SHAKESPEARE SANTA CRUZ
TAKES ‘PRINCESS & THE PEA’ CHAIR ON THE ROAD
LOCAL LIBRARIES, BOOKSTORES, FARMERS’ MARKETS TO SERVE AS TOUR STOPS

SANTA CRUZ, CA – In an effort to bring “the power of the pea” to the people, Shakespeare Santa Cruz is taking its show on the road – or at least a little piece of it.

In the plot of Shakespeare Santa Cruz’s THE PRINCESS & THE PEA, playwright Kate Hawley’s celebrated “panto” based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of the same name, Victoria, a princess possessed of a keen wit and honest heart, must compete with false princesses and true villains before she is put to the real test: is she enough of a princess to feel a pea under a tower of mattresses?

In celebration of Princess Victoria’s True Heart, the young – and young at heart – are invited to take the same test by sitting upon the “Princess & The Pea” chair, which will tour local bookstores, libraries and farmers’ markets. Are you True? There’s only one way to find out…
