Shakespeare Santa Cruz (SSC) was a program of the UC Santa Cruz Arts Division and presented Shakespeare and other classical at UCSC from 1981-2013. SSC’s three core programs were: a summer theater festival and two co-productions with the UCSC Theater Arts Department -- an annual family holiday musical, and Shakespeare to Go, a community engagement program bringing Shakespeare plays to area schools. Shakespeare to Go continues to perform in schools across Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara Counties.

SSC thanks its donors, ticket buyers, and the Santa Cruz community and beyond for its support over the years, making SSC not just Shakespeare Santa Cruz, but Shakespeare for Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz Shakespeare (SCS), a community-created theater, will carry on the tradition of professional, thought-provoking and passionate theater in Santa Cruz forged by SSC. In the 2014 summer season, SCS will produce As You Like It and The Merry Wives of Windsor from July 1 - August 10 in the Sinsheimer-Stanley Festival Glen at UCSC.
