Shakespeare to Go

What Is Shakespeare to Go?
Shakespeare to Go is a program started by Shakespeare Santa Cruz in 1988 in collaboration with the UCSC Theater Arts Department. Each year, a Theater Arts faculty member creates a 50-minute adaptation of one of the plays featured by SSC in the upcoming summer season, and assembles a cast comprised of UCSC students.

Special thanks to Toyota of Santa Cruz for the donation of the Shakespeare to Go touring van.

Bringing Shakespeare to Your Classroom
Educators may book a performance of Shakespeare to Go by contacting SSC Administrative Coordinator Jessica Bond at 831.459.5810 or [email protected]

Shakespeare to Go is available for performances every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning between April 1 and June 3. A single performance is $450 in Santa Cruz County and $500 everywhere else; a double performance (i.e. two shows in one morning) is $650.

In addition to performances by our touring group, you can book workshops for your students.

The 2011 Shakespeare to Go production is The Comedy of Errors, adapted and directed by Paul Whitworth (UCSC Theater Arts professor and former SSC Artistic Director).  In addition to the performances, workshops are available, and will be taught by artist/educator Luanne Nunes de Char.
