Shakespeare To Go

What Is Shakespeare to Go?

Shakespeare to Go is a program started by Shakespeare Santa Cruz in 1988 in collaboration with the UCSC Theater Arts Department. Each year, a Theater Arts faculty member creates a 50-minute adaptation of one of the plays in SSC’s upcoming summer season. This program, which utilizes UCSC students as actors and stage manager, has proven very successful at engaging students of all ages in the works of Shakespeare and the art of live theatre, and can serve as an excellent springboard for additional classroom work in arts or literature.

The 2013 Shakespeare to Go production is Henry V, adapted and directed by Danny Scheie (UCSC Theater Arts professor ).  In addition to the performances, workshops are available, and will be taught by artist/educator Gina Marie Hayes.

Special thanks to Toyota of Santa Cruz for the donation of the Shakespeare to Go touring van.
