Maria Frangos

Company Manager

Maria is very excited to be part of the Shakespeare Santa Cruz staff once again, after working in Front of House in 1999 and 2000 and coordinating the “Weekend with Shakespeare” in 2004. She worked in Audience Services and Literary Management/Dramaturgy at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego from 1992-98, where she enjoyed assisting the dramaturg on productions such as The Good Person of Setzuan directed by Lisa Peterson and Neal Bell’s adaptation of Thérèse Raquin. She has a BA in Literature from UC San Diego and received a PhD from UCSC in 2008, where her teaching and research focused on Shakespeare and on monstrosity and metamorphosis in comparative medieval and Renaissance literatures. She has taught as a Teaching Assistant, Lecturer, and Visiting Assistant Professor in the Literature Department at UCSC and as a Lecturer in Feminist Studies at Stanford University, and for fun in her spare time, has studied acting at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and at Berkeley Rep School of Theatre.
